The certificate of holding a public office

In the case of persons who had left Poland before 1951, a certificate confirming public office service in a foreign country might be necessary while submitting the Polish citizenship confirmation application. The requirement is based on the Polish Citizenship Act of 1920. In accordance with Article 11 of the Act, a Polish citizen lost Polish citizenship when he/she accepted a public office in a foreign country. The regulation was in force from January 31st, 1920 until January 18th, 1951 and only during that period of time, Polish citizenship loss was caused by public office service in a foreign country.
